Orthopedic Physical Therapy

ortho.jpg

Orthopedic physical therapy is a specialized branch of physical therapy that focuses on the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. It aims to restore function, reduce pain, and improve mobility in individuals with orthopedic issues.

The initial phase of orthopedic physical therapy involves a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s condition, including assessing their range of motion, strength, flexibility, and posture. Based on the assessment findings, the therapist designs a tailored treatment program to address the specific needs of the individual.

Treatment sessions typically involve therapeutic exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and balance. Manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilization, dry needling, cupping, scraping, and soft tissue manipulation, may be used to alleviate pain and restore mobility. Additionally, orthopedic physical therapists may provide education on proper body mechanics and ergonomics to prevent further injuries and promote long-term recovery.
